Sometimes a young person needs a mentor. Sometimes they need a meal, a pair of shoes, clean clothes, school supplies, or simply someone willing to say, “We’ve got you.”
At Adrian’s Way, we meet young people and families where they are. Through partnerships with local schools and our community, we respond to real needs — from food and clothing to educational support, emergency assistance, mentorship, and the everyday essentials that help young people move forward with dignity and hope.
Support that meets real needs
Our support begins by listening. We work alongside students, families, school counselors, and community partners to understand what is needed and respond in ways that make an immediate difference. From mentorship and school support to food, clothing, shoes, toiletries, and emergency assistance, we help remove the barriers that can make it harder for a young person to move forward.
Small things can change everything
A pair of shoes for a student starting their first job. Track shoes for a young athlete who earned a place on the team. Groceries for a family going through a difficult season. A stocked school pantry so students have somewhere to turn when they need help.
These may seem like small things. To the young person who needs them, they can mean everything.
WHY ADRIAN’S WAY?
Before Adrian’s Way was an organization, Adrian was a kid who needed someone to notice.
Adrian was one of the kids in our family’s circle — a friend of my nephew who was always around, always well-kept, and seemingly doing just fine. What we didn’t know was that behind what we could see, Adrian was navigating the foster care system and couch surfing from place to place.
When our family learned what was happening, the response was simple: he needed somewhere to belong.
Adrian’s story taught us something we have never forgotten: you cannot always see what a young person is carrying. Sometimes you have to pay attention, ask the question, and be willing to show up.
That lesson became Adrian’s Way.

Since 2018, Adrian’s Way has turned community support into practical help for young people and families throughout National City and the South Bay.
